ePANACEA

Smart European Energy Perfomance Assessment and Certification

  • Jun 2020May 2023

Project description

After ten years of track record, the current Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) in the EU face several challenges that have resulted in not fully achieving their initial objectives: lack of accuracy, a gap between theoretical and real consumption patterns, lack of appropriate protocols for the inclusion of smart and emerging technologies, low convergence between EU systems, lack of trust in the market and very low user awareness of energy efficiency. The goal of the ePANACEA project is to develop a holistic methodology for building energy performance assessment and certification that can overcome the above challenges. The vision is that ePANACEA will become a relevant tool for the European energy transition in the building sector. ePANACEA includes the development of a prototype (the Smart Energy Performance Assessment Platform) that uses the most advanced techniques of dynamic and automated simulation modeling, big data analysis and machine learning, inverse modeling or estimation of potential energy savings, and performance auditing.
