open ENergy TRansition ANalyses for a low-Carbon Economy

  • Ongoing
  • Started: May 2019
  • Expected end: Apr 2023

Project description

openENTRANCE contributes to an improved and robust understanding of the transition to a low-carbon energy system in Europe by developing, demonstrating and using an open platform.

It sets up an open space for researchers and interested stakeholders at national and European levels, makes data sharing accessible, creates a more transparent knowledge and smooth the way for European analyses. Through active stakeholder involvement and dissemination activities targeting the energy modelling research community, openENTRANCE ensures that the platform will be used beyond the project duration. openENTRANCE will provide modelling results as close to reality as possible and will enable the development and adjustment of policy instruments with unprecedented efficacy.

The expected outcomes of openENTRANCE are aimed at responding to pressing societal needs, such as the decarbonisation of the energy sector, and economic needs, such as the feasibility of the energy transition. The project further tackles policy challenges to enable and improve the investments into low-carbon innovation and adds value by combining the use of available knowledge in important research organisations.
