Spatial Energy Planning for Heat Transition

  • May 2018May 2021

Project description

In the "SpatialEnergyPlanning (SEP)" project, the planning bases for spatially optimized development of heat supply infrastructures are being developed, taking into account local conditions such as existing energy infrastructure, land use and available energy resources from renewable sources or waste heat. The foundations thus created are incorporated into the digital HEATatlas, which shows the complex interconnections of energy systems and thus enable long-term energy and infrastructure planning with greater investment security. In addition, a HEATapp prototype is being programmed that enables automated queries and can be used in three specific forms of public administration application: land development, spatial planning and monitoring of energy strategies. The provinces of Vienna, Styria and Salzburg are directly involved in the "SEP"-project; the development work is carried out together with a large number of partners from research and with selected pioneer municipalities and cities, which provide reliable data for HEATatlas and HEATapp.
