Project description

EPBD.wise (Effective implementation of the EPBD in line with short-term and long-term policy requirements), funded under the LIFE Programme and led by Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien) Energy Economics Group, aims to ensure the effective and wise execution of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). This initiative is particularly relevant as negotiations continue for the finalization of the revised EPBD, which incorporates various policy tools to advance towards a decarbonized building sector in line with climate objectives. The project will assist public authorities in six focus countries in designing, executing, and assessing the key measures outlined in the Commission's EPBD proposal. These measures include the introduction of a new zero-emission building standard, National Building Renovation Plans (NBRP), Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS), Renovation Passports (RPs), and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs). EPBD.wise also aims to establish a uniform approach to implementing EPBD-related policies and develop a replicable model to support such efforts across the EU. Alongside TU Wien  - EEG, project partners such as e-think, Sera Global, ADENE – Agência para a Energia, BPIE, ENEA, ÉMI Nonprofit Kft, EuroACE, and Housing and Municipal Reform Support Centre (HMRSC) from Ukraine are involved. EPBD.wise holds immense potential to significantly impact the successful implementation of the EPBD, leading to the decarbonization of building stocks and the achievement of climate goals.
